Volunteer & Coaches

Coaches

TLMTB is coached by a pool of volunteer parents and community members passionate about the culture and joy that comes from riding.

Our team of volunteers abides by the rules and guidelines established by both:

  • NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association) – National level association guiding the rules, training and insurance requirements to maintain and operate high school cycling programs.
  • NORCALMTB   – Our Northern California league that organizes and produces the race events, clinics and camps that drive toward these core values: Fun, Inclusivity, Equity, Respect, and Community.

Our volunteers are Wilderness First Aid trained, CPR Trained, MTB Clinic trained, and maintain the continuing education  requirements  to carry the mantle of ‘coooach’

Volunteers

We rely on volunteer ride leaders and others to help make our practices happen and race weekends run smoothly.  We welcome parents on rides and help is always welcome.  Please prepare yourself to volunteer at a race weekend as a course marshall, crossing guard, or another event day responsibility.  NorcalMTB produces the races with every effort to minimize expense and a large volunteer pool is critical.

A Note about adults riding:

We will be riding in groups of different skill levels.  Please be mindful of recommendations and assignments by the coaching staff.  Ride within your abilities.  Our obligations are to keep our riders safe, develop young riders’ skills and ensure we’re providing a fun environment.  We are the wrong group to ride with to conquer KOM’s or prove your wicked adult shredding abilities.  We’re working with youth – be prepared for signing up for a background check and registering through NICA as an adult leader.
